Unlike other professional sports, there is no offseason in MMA. Week in and week out, fight cards all over the world are taking place. Some weeks there will be major fight cards filled with big name fighters, others not so much, but there are fights taking place every week.

Regardless of whether the fighters are household names or not, The MMA Corner will preview the best fight taking place during the week.

This week’s Fight of the Week is the middleweight clash between Alexander Shlemenko and Melvin Manhoef.

On Friday, February 13, 2015 at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, CA, Shlemenko and Manhoef will serve as the main event for Bellator 133. For fans of elite MMA striking, this is a match up you can’t afford to miss.

The former Bellator middleweight champion Shlemenko is one of the most electrifying strikers in MMA today; utilizing a myriad of spinning attacks. With 29 of his 51 career victories coming by way of knockout, Shlemenko is much more than just a showman.

Manhoef, on the other hand, has yet to claim a major title in his MMA career, but he is dangerous none the less. 27 of the K-1 legend’s 29 career victories have come by way of knockout; each one more brutal than the last.

While this fight is unlikely to hit the ground, it is worth noting that if it does, Shlemenko would have a decided advantage. Shlemenko has won eight bouts by way of submission and Manhoef has been submitted seven times in his career.

Don’t expect this fight to hit the mat though; Shlemenko and Manhoef are hungry to win and hungry to send a message to the rest of the division via brutal knockout.
