(Esther Lin/MMAFighting)UFC 185 Predictions: Why Hendricks Eases Past Brown Towards Title Shot Jeremy Klump March 14, 2015 Events, News, Spotlight Johny Hendricks is coming off of a split decision loss to Robbie Lawler for the welterweight belt. Previously, Hendricks beat Lawler while he defended the belt, but obviously Lawler won the next fight. The fight was one in which many felt Hendricks won and it was pretty controversial. Other than his loss to Lawler on Dec. 6, 2014, Hendricks has only lost to George St-Pierre since 2011. In that time span, Hendricks is 7-2 and showed that he is one of the top fighters in the division at all times. Even in his loss to GSP, many believed he actually won the fight, but lost again by split decision. Decision victories have haunted Hendricks, as his only three losses of his professional mixed martial arts career have came by way of decision, two of those by split decision. Hendricks has world-class wrestling and is one of the top wrestlers in the UFC, but sometimes he relies too much on his wrestling and it leads to these decision losses or victories. He is taking on Matt Brown, who many see as a top guy in the division because he knocked so many people out on his way to the title shot. He has six KO/TKO victories in his last seven wins and his only loss since 2012 was to the current champion, Robbie Lawler. Brown lost a unanimous decision victory to Lawler and there was not much controversy like there was in the Hendricks fight. Brown has been ending fights and has looked good, but I just do not know if he has fought someone at the level that Hendricks is on other than Lawler, which was a loss. I predict that Johny Hendricks will ease past Brown towards another title shot. Why? My answer is simple: I believe Hendricks is noticeably better than Brown, with no disrespect to Brown. Hendricks has world-class wrestling like I said, but he can also knock you out in one punch and that one punch can come at any time. If you think Hendricks is all about his world-class wrestling then you haven’t seen him knockout Jon Fitch and Martin Kampman. Those knockouts just show how powerful Hendricks hands can be and I think he will show that power tonight. I predict a round one KO/TKO by Hendricks and he will show that Hendricks vs. Lawler 3 is coming soon.ednricks
