Invicta Fighting Championships has announced the new date and location for its next event, Invicta FC 12: Kankaanpaa vs. Souza, which will stream live and exclusively on UFC Fight Pass from Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo. on Friday, April 24.

Invicta returns to Kansas City for the first time since Invicta FC 8 after hosting its last three events in Houston, Davenport, and Los Angeles. Kansas City, currently the promotion’s base of operations, served as the site of each of the first eight Invicta cards.

In the night’s main event, the promotions 125-pound belt will be on the line as flyweight champion Katja “Killer Bunny” Kankaanpaa of Finland makes her first title defense against undefeated submission specialist Livia Renata “Livinha” Souza of Brazil.

The 33-year old Kankaanpaa (10-1-1) captured gold with a fifth-round submission win over Stephanie Eggink at Invicta FC 8 in September of 2014.

The challenger Souza (7-0) makes her Invicta debut with an unblemished record, with all but one of seven wins coming by way of submission, including five first-round finishes.

In the night’s co-main event Roxanne Modafferi will look to repeat her 2008 TKO of Vanessa Porto.

Modafferi (17-11), a veteran of 18th season of The Ultimate Fighter, scored the only knockout victory of her career when she first fought Porto in 2008. Modafferi is currently riding a two-fight winning streak. Prior to this string of success, fans saw her suffer a career worst six straight setbacks

Porto (17-6) has has won 10 of 13 bouts since losing to Modafferi, including her last two.

Also appearing on the card is a featherweight contest between promotional newcomer Faith Van Duin (4-1), who is coming off her first career loss to Arlene Blencowe back in August and Amanda Bell (3-2), who rattled off three straight victories, all by stoppage.

Rounding out the fight announcements, TUF 18 veteran Peggy Morgan (3-2) steps into the Invicta cage for the third time as she faces the undefeated Latoya Walker (4-0).
