It looks like Ireland will be treated to one the more important heavyweight bouts of the year.

According to a report by Steven Marrocco the UFC is looking to add a heavyweight contender fight between the Stipe Miocic and Ben Rothwell to the upcoming UFC Fight Night 76 in Dublin.

Miocic (13-2) was last seen earning a dominant fifth round TKO win over former title contender Mark Hunt at UFC Fight Night 65 in May. During the bout, the Cleveland native set a UFC record for the most strikes landed in a fight, outlanding Hunt 361 – 48.

Prior to this performance, Miocic suffered a heart-breaking decision loss to former champion Junior dos Santos following their thrilling  back-and-forth war in main event of UFC on FOX 13 in December. Both men earned Fight of the Night honors for their efforts. This setback snapped Miocic’s three fight win streak, which included victories over Roy Nelson and Gabriel Gonzaga

Rothwell (35-9) will be looking to make it four straight inside the octagon, with his most recent being first round submission over Matt Mitrione on June.

This not only marked his first submission win since 2007 but also gave ‘Big Ben’ his third straight stoppage win after scoring back-to-back knockouts over former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem and Brandon Vera.

UFC Fight Night 76 is currently set to take place on October 25 at The 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland. A lightweight contest between Dustin Poirier and Joseph Duffy is scheduled to serve as the headlining act. The entire card is expected to stream live on UFC Fight Pass.
