Former UFC middleweight and light heavyweight title contender Chael Sonnen has reached an agreement to join World Series of Fighting as a color commentator.

His first appearance behind the mic for the promotion will be the highly anticipated WSOF 23: Gaethje vs. Palomino II, where fans will hear him team up with veteran play-by-play announcer Todd Harris on live NBCSN Telecast.

“I am stoked to join the powerhouse team at World Series of Fighting, and call their fights that feature some of the best mixed martial artists on the planet,” stated Sonnen “World Series of Fighting has done an outstanding job of building their organization into a top-tier franchise in a very short span of time, and I am just proud to be a part of such a fast-growing company.

Sonnen previously as UFC fight analyst and host of UFC Tonight on FOX networks before losing his job after testing positive for banned substances in 2014. However, he wouldn’t stay on the sidelines for long as ESPN later singed him for the same position held at FOX.

“We are thrilled to have Chael Sonnen, one of the most colorful individuals in professional sports, join our production,” added World Series of Fighting President Ray Sefo. “We are confident Chael will enhance the fan viewing experience both for our growing national audience on NBCSN and across the globe by providing the insights he learned competing at the highest level of the sport.”

WSOF 23 is currently set to take place on Sept. 18. at Comerica Theatre in Downtown Phoenix. A lightweight championship rematch between reigning champion Justin Gaethje and Luis Palominio will serve as the main event while a light heavyweight title fight between David Branch and Teddy Holder will appear in the co-main event.
