UFC 200 Scouting Report: Brock Lesnar RJ Gardner July 6, 2016 Events, Previews, Spotlight, UFC Name – Brock Lesnar Current Age – 38 Record – 5-3 Weight Class – Heavyweight (265 pounds) Height – 6’3” Reach – 81” Team/Gym – DeathClutch Gym Striking 6/10 Lesnar is a phenomenal athlete but that never translated into making him a dangerous or effective striker. While he possesses incredible stopping power his technique is rudimentary and his movement is incredibly clunky. On top of that he doesn’t react well when he is hit. Wrestling/Grappling 10/10 Lesnar’s wrestling ability can be summed up in one word “Explosive”. His speed and agility are off the charts for a man of his size and combined with his raw power Lesnar’s takedowns are difficult to stop. In addition to his raw attributes Lesnar was an elite level collegiate wrestler which translates into a great technical ability as well. Submissions 7/10 While far from being a submission specialist Lesnar does have a solid grasp on the basics. Combined with his wrestling acumen and top control Lesnar create openings and apply more than enough pressure to force a tap. Athleticism/Conditioning 10/10 Even at 38 Lesnar is one of the most impressive raw, physical talents you will see in MMA. He has incredible quickness, speed and explosiveness for a big man and his physical strength is just as impressive. Fight IQ 5/10 Physically Lesnar has all the tools to be one of the most dominating fighters in the sport but his mental game has never been on par with the more savvy fighters. Being physically gifted and competitive isn’t enough to overcome with superior technique and preparation. Overall 38/50
