Color commentator Joe Rogan is livid that the much talked about UFC 209 event will feature neither of the Diaz brothers; Nick and Nate. For those who aren’t aware of the significance surrounding the three digit number, well, 209 is the area code for Stockton, California – a place where both brothers were born, raised, and till this day, still reside.

Talking on his Fight Companion podcast (h/t BloodyElbow), Rogan excoriated the organizations higher-ups for failing to include on the card, two of the most polarizing fighters in the sport today.

“UFC 209 is coming up, but it’s not in Stockton. That s–t is unconscionable. They had one opportunity ever in the history of the UFC to do it,” Rogan said. “I planned episode 911 (of the Joe Rogan Experience Podcast) to be Alex Jones. They should have planned episode 209 to be in f—king Stockton with Nick and Nate Diaz. I guarantee you that s–t would have gotten two million pay-per-view buys.”

Apropos Nick Diaz’ exclusion from the event, Rogan pointed to former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre inking a new contract with the firm, and his fight history with Diaz – at UFC 158, Mar. 2013, St-Pierre defeated Diaz via unanimous decision, and by the end of the year, “Rush” decided to step away from the sport.

Per contra, Nick hasn’t fought since the Anderson Silva fight (ruled a no-contest due to both he and Silva testing positive for ban substances) back in January of 2015.

So, from Rogan’s perspective, it’s got “money fight” written all over it.

“That’s the perfect fight to make,” Rogan said. “Neither guy has fought in a long time, neither guy is in title contention, and it’s a superfight right out of the gate.”

On the other hand, younger brother Nate last fought at UFC 202 in a welterweight rematch with current lightweight titleholder Conor McGregor. It appears Nate is waiting on a projected rubber match with the Irishman. Now, whether that eventually comes to fruition, we’ll just have to wait and see.

All told, according to UFC President Dana White, offers were made to both brothers – Nick was given options on Robbie Lawler and Demian Maia, but apparently flatly turned them down, whilst they’re still waiting on Nate’s response.

UFC 209 is the most anticipated event thus far in the promotions 2017 calendar. The main event will feature the rematch between sitting welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and Stephen Thompson.

However, it’s the lip-smacking interim lightweight clash between top streaking fighters Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson that has most fight fans chaffing at the bit, and big jackpot slots reeling.

UFC 209 is scheduled go down on Sat., Mar. 4, 2017 at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada
