On Saturday night in the co-main event at UFC 209, Dagestan’s own; Khabib Nurmagomedov will seek to etch his name alongside the likes of the legendary Fedor Emelianenko, when he welcomes fellow top lightweight Tony Ferguson to the bird’s cage for their interim title tilt.

For five years he’s been a resident fighter at the world’s most distinguished MMA promotion. And during those five years, Nurmagomedov, 28, has revelled in the good (eight victories in as many outings), and endured the bad (injuries resulting in a two-year layoff).

However, the wrestler/grappler is now at the apogee of his powers – injury free and raring to feast where only eagles dare – Tony “El Cucuy” Ferguson.

Nurmagomedov could’ve of taken the easy route to interim lightweight glory (current 145-pound champ Jose Aldo … yeah, it would’ve been easy – takedown defense extraordinaire or not), but instead, he chose the rocky path to the division’s hottest streaking combatant – the unpredictable and unorthodox Ferguson.

Such is the single-mindedness and self-belief of “The Eagle” that’s he’s willing to risk his feathers being burnt in his efforts to prove beyond doubt, he’s the best of the best in the Green Mile that houses the 155 murderer’s row inmates.

On the line for Nurmagomedov is his unblemished ledger of 24-0.

On the line for Ferguson is his nine-fight win streak.

It’s a sure-fire bet that someone’s ‘O’ will go, and online slot bonuses abound.

Draws are for the weak.

Be damned with MMA math – this supercharged affair ends in a crimson tide of violence – guts and glory – broken appendages and visages – career ending beat downs.

The Celestial Governors who sit high above the empyrean have decreed it that way.

Yet, the outcome has already been written in stone – “The Eagle” soars, swoops down, and sinks its talons into its prey – Khabib Nurmagomedov cannot be denied.

So, bring your eyeballs, and bring them aplenty, because you’re about to feast your eyes on the bear-wrestling Eagle, as it chains and gains that takedown – top control – ground-and-pound – then repairs to the skies – arm in tow.

Venit, vidit, vicit – “The Eagle” has landed.

Next stop – 12 pounds of gold proper.

Is Conor McGregor ready?

UFC 209 is scheduled to go down Sat., Mar. 4, 2017 at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada.
