2018 was a fantastic year for MMA, as it continued to grow at the rate of knots, with a number of fighters putting their names forward as the pound for pound best. Here we cover three UFC fighters that are set to have a big 2019.

Jon Jones

One fighter who continues to be talked about and on most occasions for the wrong reason is Jon Jones. However, there is little doubt he is one of the greatest fighters in the history of the sport. Following his recent success over Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 232, he picked up the light heavyweight belt and extended his professional fighting record to 23-1-0. He was the strong favourite going into that bout at online-betting.org, and was a popular choice amongst punters.

Considering Jones has had lengthy spells of inactivity for much of his career, he will be expected to remain very active throughout 2019. He also now sits at number two in the pound for pound rankings, behind bitter rival Daniel Cormier. Could we see the pair face off again in 2019 in what is one of the most anticipated potential matchups in the UFC to make?

Max Holloway

Max is the current featherweight champion and following his recent success at UFC 231, has firmly established himself as one of the most dominant champions in the sport. 2019 is set to be a big year for him as he likely steps up in weight and could yet face off against lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Holloway is now unbeaten since back in 2013 and is one of the most exciting talents in the UFC.

Tony Ferguson

The final name to make the select list is number one lightweight contender, Tony ‘El Cucuy’ Ferguson. He is another fighter who has been on a lengthy unbeaten run that dates back to 2012 with 11 victories in a row. That means he now has a professional fighting record of 24 wins and 3 losses, and is simply one of the greatest ever.

Tony Ferguson is usually a very active fighter, so 2019 could see him make several appearances. There is little doubt that in the entire UFC he remains the fighter that deserves a shot at the title more than anyone else. Can 2019 finally be the year we see the 34 year old face off against Khabib, in what would be a blockbuster clash.
